26th NECCI PR Roundtable

For 25 years, NECCI PR Roundtable has remained a leading platform for addressing critical issues, fostering meaningful dialogue, and bringing together thought leaders and decision-makers to examine the evolving landscape of public relations, governance, and reputation management. Building on this legacy, we are pleased to announce the 26th NECCI PR Roundtable, continuing our commitment to conversations that shape the future of Nigeria and the global communications landscape.

The theme for this edition is: Algorithmic Influence and Public Relations: AI, Information Integrity, and the Ethics of Democratic Discourse in Nigeria.”.

In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, artificial intelligence and algorithmic systems are fundamentally transforming how information is created, distributed, consumed, and amplified. From social media platforms and search engines to generative AI and automated content systems, algorithms increasingly influence public opinion, shape narratives, and determine what information reaches different audiences.

This edition of the NECCI PR Roundtable will explore the growing influence of artificial intelligence and algorithms on public relations, information integrity, and democratic discourse in Nigeria. It will examine the opportunities presented by emerging technologies while critically considering the ethical challenges surrounding misinformation, disinformation, algorithmic bias, digital manipulation, and the responsible use of AI.

The Roundtable is scheduled to hold as follows:

Venue: Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos

Date:    30 October 2026

Time:    10:00 am

The theme will further examine the responsibilities of governments, businesses, technology companies, media organisations, public relations professionals, and citizens in safeguarding information integrity in an era of rapid technological transformation.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape communication and public engagement, the need for ethical frameworks, transparency, accountability, and responsible information practices has never been more critical. The discussion will consider how PR professionals and other stakeholders can navigate algorithmic influence while maintaining public trust, protecting democratic values, and promoting credible and responsible communication.

The event will highlight the complexities of modern public relations in the age of artificial intelligence, offering practical perspectives and thought-provoking discussions on how organisations and institutions can build resilient reputations while navigating an increasingly algorithm-driven information ecosystem.

This year’s Roundtable will convene thought leaders, policymakers, technology experts, public relations professionals, media practitioners, academics, business leaders, and governance professionals to explore the critical intersection of artificial intelligence, information integrity, ethics, and democratic discourse in Nigeria.

It promises to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue, knowledge sharing, and actionable insights on how Nigeria can responsibly navigate the opportunities and challenges presented by AI and algorithmic influence.
